The 2020 IEEE-HydCon Organizing Committee is pleased to announce the full virtual conference program tentative schedule.

We have opted for a format where each contributed paper or talk will take the combined form of pre-recorded video and live sessions. All contents will be available during the original dates and on-demand after the conference concludes.

VIRTUAL CONFERENCE FORMAT

All oral papers will be presented via Zoom at the time indicated in the program schedule. During your scheduled session time, you will be required to be present to answer Questions from attendees. All oral sessions will follow a similar structure to how they are held in a typical physical conference format.

  1. The Session Chair will introduce each presenter
  2. The Conference organizers will play the pre-recorded presentation (12 minutes maximum) for the audience.
  3. Once the presentation has concluded, the Session Chair will facilitate a live Q&A period (5 minutes maximum) with the audience.
  4. Process repeats for each subsequent paper in the session.

  3. Total 15minutes are allocated to each paper for presentation: 10mins presentation followed by 5mins Q&A session.

The foundation of any good research is sound and comprehensive literature review. However, part of the process of literature review is to be able to quickly explore and compare more research materials that relate to what might be a researcher's current point of attention. However, with the ever-increasing deluge of research information, a researcher has to constantly fight with volume, time, and memory. It is to address these issues that we started building RAx (https://raxter.io). In this tutorial, I am going to discuss how we approached the immensely hard AI problems that we bumped into while developing RAx and how to go about it if you have to take it to the next level - may be a Jarvis for researchers?

Abstract

The teaching practices in Indian universities/colleges are not completely based on skill development to enable the student to be industry ready. The focus is on learning by remembering rather than learning by doing. This hinders the capability or in other words capacity building of the individuals to face the real life challenges of the society. The present requirement is to focus the higher education teaching methodologies on skill development such as design, problem solving, team worked and communication skill. It is also needed that our education must be tuned with current industrial requirements i.e. revolution “Industry 4.0” and should be able to address the problems of the society. Project Based Learning (PBL) is a step towards ensuring capacity/skill development in students. The students are encouraged to solve societal problems rather that hypothetical problems.

            The tutorial focuses on introducing the concepts of PBL to the academicians and industry personnel to bring a convergence in the thought processes. The emphasis will be on introducing a systematic way of implementation of PBL in the higher education courses. The hands-on session will result in the participants being able to create PBL architecture for the problem identified by them along with the skill set required for the same.

TITLE: Super Resolution Techniques for Video Analytic Applications

ABSTRACT: In this talk, we will present and discuss video analytics researches focused on super resolution techniques conducted at video technology research group, Chulalongkorn University. Super-resolution (SR) is an image, video, and computer vision task that reconstruct the high quality or high-resolution (HR) image with large texture detail information from a single or multiple low quality or low-resolution (LR) image, under the limited conditional environment and low-cost imaging system. Despite its difficulty and limitations, SR could be applied in real world applications, such as security and surveillance imaging systems, face recognition, and medical and satellite imaging systems.  This talk will discuss the evolution of SR from interpolation techniques to deep convolutional neural networks (CNNs) and will present some of the recent research works on multi-scale inception-based super-resolution (SR).

TITLE: Making Healthcare More Accessible via AI: Extension of Telemedicine

ABSTRACT:   This talk will focus on innovative digital health ecosystem and analytics system which fosters extension of telemedicine through the transfer of comprehensive medical expertise and experiences via Artificial Intelligence (AI) from tertiary medical centers to remote care facilities in making healthcare more accessible! Cancer is among the most important issues of healthcare worldwide. However, under current medical systems, diagnosis of these severe diseases is commonly delayed, especially in remote locations with limited medical resources. Hence it is necessary to facilitate point-of-care early screening at these distant care units using Computer-Aided-Diagnostic (CAD) tools possessing tertiary centers’ experiences accumulated through AI. In attempts to reform and advance the digital health environment, using skin care as example, this tutorial introduces an ecosystem, by which integration of remote care facilities is substantiated, through utilization of high accuracy and efficiency of AI as extension of telemedicine! Being an exemplary, this AI medical networking model is readily extensible to global medical and biotech communities! This talk will also introduce the speaker’s reconfigurable edge system for the detection of Skin Cancer on mobile devices with more than 95% accuracy.

The presentation shows the application of the power profiler in the fields of building automation as well as automotive wireless networks.
